Product Description

Conventional Heating as well as Cooling Systems

The process of manufacturing of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) involves different processes from work-up, batch reaction, distillation, crystallization to hydrogenation. In addition, from layer separation, drying and filtration processes are also included. The batch reaction process includes heating and cooling stages with varying temperature ranging from -50°C to +250°C. This process was carried out with multiple utilities from cooling water, hot water, chilled brine, chilled water, high pressure steam, low pressure steam to thermic fluids.

Limitations

  • Changeover of HTFsis really time consuming and also unsafe
  • Complicated mechanical design
  • Condensate improvement is not possible.
  • Cross pollution of HTFs.
  • Diverse heat transfer fluids (HTFs) may need separate coils, jacket zones for heating and cooling or exterior heat exchangers.
  • Enhanced capital/maintenance costs
  • Inefficient management of HTFs that leads to incorrect temperature control
  • Multiple utilities can rust the reactor jacket.
  • Process parameter deviations harmfully affect the quality of the products

Solution

Single Fluid Heating Cooling System (SFHC) / Temperature Control Unit (TCU) are ideal solution to overcome these problems and limitations faced by the users during traditional multiutility based heat transferring and controlling processes, where high precision and extensive temperature ranges are vital for the development of novel compounds and API’s.

How Single Fluid Heating Cooling System (SFHC) Works?

It is linked to a single reactor to vary the temperature of the system as per the process requirement. It maintains the stable temperature difference between the fluid and the process temperature. It ensures to provide accurate control over heating as well as cooling cycle. Therefore, the temperature along with the heating-and-cooling time is also controlled as a significant process parameter that further ensures batch-to-batch constancy and higher output.

Features of Single Fluid Heating Cooling System (SFHC):

  • All wetted parts are designed using high-grade stainless steel
  • Automation - system is managed by modern PLC system that can be easily integrated with SCADA
  • Completely enclosed skid as well as mounted on wheels for trouble-free mobility
  • Ensures to prevent cross- contamination
  • No corrosion or thermal shocks
  • No switching between the jacket service fluids
  • Rapid heating as well as cooling that further reduces batch time
  • Remote control panel available with flameproof enclosures that are ideal for gas group IIA, IIB
  • Temperature ranges from - 35°c to 250°c with exact temperature control, +/-1°c.

Benefits of Single Fluid Heating Cooling System (SFHC):

  • Accurate temperature control upto +/-1°C with no risk to reactor
  • Ensures to provide higher product yields and optimum quality
  • Fully automatic capability with less manpower
  • High-savings on costly raw materials as the yield is enhanced without adding excess reactions.
  • Ideal for very cold operating temperatures needed by today’s new chemical formulae as well as reactions
  • No pause of processes and hot spots
  • No switching between the jacket service fluids
  • Off batches are reduced if not eliminated
  • Precisely meet FDA requirements
  • Programmable heating as well as cooling ramps for precise unsupervised operations
  • Rapid heating as well as chilling profiles are developed to reduce batch times
  • Repeatability and precise recordable.
  • Smooth, constant temperature control without any gap as there is no fluid changeovers

Usage of Single Fluid Heating Cooling System (SFHC):

Widely used in different temperature based applications such as:

  • Alternate heating and cooling process applications to reduce the time of changing over
  • Where unexpected temperature is risen causing thermal shocks
  • Crystallization reactions
  • Metal Reactions
  • Multi product plant
  • Non-aqueous reactions where aqueous utilities are not utilized for heating/cooling that lead to hazardous conditions
